Dead Pixel Test: Quick Start Guide

A little preparation goes a long way. On this page you’ll find a short guide you can follow in about 30 seconds. When you’re ready, open the full-screen colors and inspect your display.

  • Clean the screen: dust or smudges can mimic bad pixels.
  • Increase brightness: medium-high works best for spotting tiny dots.
  • Dim the room lights: a darker room makes issues stand out.
  • Use full screen: let each color cover the entire display.
  • Look carefully at each color: if unsure, show the same color again to confirm.

The test shows black, white, red, green, and blue as solid full-screen frames. A dead pixel usually appears as a tiny black dot on every color. A stuck pixel stays locked to a single color (for example, always red). If the same dot remains visible in the same spot across colors, double-check it by showing that color again.

  • Black: helps reveal bright or glowing pixels.
  • White: exposes dark pixels that don’t light up.
  • Red / Green / Blue: help identify stuck pixels tied to a single sub-pixel color.

Does it work on phones? Yes. Open it in your mobile browser and switch to full screen.

Is a dead pixel covered by warranty? It depends on the brand; some set a minimum number.

Can stuck pixels recover? Sometimes. Rapid color cycling can help; truly dead pixels rarely do.
